The enterprise Ligmatech Automationssysteme represents a successful example of the Saxon landscape of companies in the time before and after the German reunification.
The cooperative founded in the sixties of last century was nationalized in 1972 and developed to a state-owned company VEB Rationalisierungsmittelbau for the neighbouring wood, chair, and furniture industries and agriculture.
In the eighties of last century, the company was incorporated into the collective combine for furniture "Dresden-Hellerau" and with this, the activities were focussed on machining machines for the furniture industry.
The range of products of that time reached from hydraulic bending presses, slot boring and milling machines, special machines to the production of coat hangers, special saws up to rotary edge-banding machines.
Since March 1990, the company was carried on as an independent GmbH (limited liability company) with a staff of about 45 employees at that time.
The Ligmatech company has been an enterprise of the Homag Group since June 1990.
Despite strong partners in the former West Germany, the Homag Group, the company succeeded in conquering the world market only very slowly at the beginning. But in the middle of the nineties of last century at the latest, a fast development started after the consolidation of the range of products and a strategic orientation towards the technological fields of the assembly and packaging equipment.
While smaller handling devices were manufactured at the beginning, two complex fully automatic assembly lines for the assembly of kitchen cupboards and cabinets were supplied to a large-sized customer in France in 2009 among other things. This year, we realize a big packaging and automation project with sophisticated technological solutions in Belgium.
Now, the Ligmatech company looks back on almost 20 years of development of the enterprise and employs a staff of about 160 employees today.
It was and is always important for us to offer young people a chance of vocational training and to facilitate their venturing into a professional career. For this reason, we will take on five new trainees in the year of our 20th anniversary, too.
There were a lot of building activities in the past 20 years, several building stages prove the devotion to the site at Lichtenberg.
The danger of birthday celebrations is that you concentrate too much on the past and lose sight of the future. Many things happened during the last twenty years. Therefore, we are sure that we will have a huge potential of growth in the next years, too.
We are outstandingly prepared for this, with an excellent portfolio of products, with a highly qualified staff, an up-to-date company as well as regional partners such as, for example, the Technical University of Freiberg – best conditions for a continuing expansion.
The positioning of the Ligmatech company as a specialist for packaging and assembly processes was advanced in the last years by a multitude of innovative solutions. But the enterprise also makes itself increasingly a name as a specialist for robot applications and can proudly refer to more than 170 successful applications on the market.
Anchored in the region of the Ore Mountains but acting globally, we will continue our activities to come up to these expectations and to accept the challenge to realize the most innovative and cost-effective solutions in our machines and lines for the benefit of our customers.
